christina d'arcy principal psychologist
Christina is a registered Psychologist who completed her MA(Hons) Clin. Psych. at Wollongong University in 1994. Her Master's comprised of a course component and a research component, the focus of which was early intervention for children with disruptive behaviours. At this time, Christina was fortunate to be working with Dr Philomena Renner, a Clinical Psychologist who was a member of the clinical board. Dr Renner established the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Campbelltown. The research data obtained was reviewed for her master's project and Dr Renner's PhD. leading to significant treatment insights.
Dr Renner, was an inspirational leader and mentor. She created a culture of professionalism, compassion, intellectual curiosity and passion ensuring a truly evidence based, best practice approach to assessment and treatment of mental health disorders.
Christina obtained eligibility for Clinical Board Membership after completing 2 years, post master's, individual and group supervision with Dr Renner. At that time, she met the requirements to be employed as a Clinical Psychologist and then Senior Clinical Psychologist (Head of Service) with NSW Health Department. Christina has been registered as a Psychologist following her departure from NSW Health.
Christina has over 20 years experience working across clinical and organisational environments. She has private and public sector experience, working extensively with both children and adults presenting with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, communication and relationship difficulties, adjustment disorder. weight management, self esteem and weight loss.
Christina's clinical practice is guided by various therapeutic models including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MBCBT), Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focussed Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy and the use of personality assessments.
Prior to establishing Camden Psychology Clinic in Camden, Christina established and grew a successful psychology practice within a local osteopathy clinic. Her client base was primarily adults with a small number of adolescents. By the time she left she had grown the clinic from 1 clinician to 3 full and part time Psychologists with a strong referral base. Christina's experience in the corporate sector includes assessment for recruitment and organisational development; executive coaching; manager support; team building; creating resilient, high performing teams; coaching for high potentials, managing change; career guidance and career transition.
